关于Hardly……when……的用法

新概念英语第二册上第86篇课文中有这样一个句子：“Both men had hardly had time to realize what was happending when they were thrown violently into the sea." 课本上是这样翻译的“他们两个还没来得及意识到究竟发生了什么事，就被猛地抛入海中。”在这个中文翻译中，“还没来得及”有一个否定在其中，是不是对应的就是“hardly”？但是如果是这样，这里又有一个句子“Hardly had the foot ball game begun when it started raining. ”中文翻译如下“足球比赛才刚刚开始就下起雨来。”在这里，也是“hardly……when……”的句式，但为什么中文翻译里没有出现否定句式？为什么不是“足球比赛还未开始就下起雨来。”呢？请指教！谢谢大家！

关于hardly的意思及用法建议参考英英词典，里面会说得更明白。在牛津高阶里面这样解释了hardly: 1. almost no; almost not; almost none；2. used to say that sth has just begun, happened. 所以hardly并不总是翻译成否定的。有的书上简单地译成是“几乎不”，这是不完整的。

hardly……when……中文意思是“一……就……”，相当于as soon as 的意思，但它们的时态用法不同。hardly……when……用的是过去完成时，when后跟一般过去时，而as soon as用的时态是主将从现的形式

1.hardly...when.../no sooner...than/scarcely… before 这个是固定搭配，意思都是“ 一。。。就。。。”
引导时间状语从句,hardly+用过去完成时,than后面用一般过去；hardly+现在完成时,than用一般现在时。
还有就是hardly，no sooner，scarcely 为否定副词，若位于句首表强调，后面要用部分否定。
如：Hardly had I finished eating when he came in。我刚吃完饭，他就来了。（倒装）
I had no sooner reached home than it began to rain. 我一回到家就下雨了。
