We have heard from you and known your matter.first among people,even friends,that they have different views about things is very normal.you said you hurt your friend for this and it was your fault,then to be a brave man and say sorry to him sincerely in a proper time,such as when his birthday comes or you can invite to go to a movie and so on,Anyhow friendship still exists between you two,for friendship,you'd better do this way.i suppose that he will accept your apologizement so long as you are sincerely enough.
