Compare with his friends,he is diligent rather than clever.
Compared with his friends,he is diligent rather than clever.

有些动词短语最初的状态是 主动的 ,比如 compare ...with ; dress sb. in sth .
当它们变成被动式时,就成了 be compared with ; be dressed in .
Young men are compared to the sun of eight o'clock in the morning
He is well dressed in black .
Compared with his friends,he is diligent rather than clever.
Seeing the bus ,he hurried up .
Seen from the top of the hill , the city looked good .

如果我们说把他和他朋友比的话,应该说we compare him with his friends。
knowing that he is tired, i don't speak to him。
人称I 和动词know之间的关系是I know he istired,主谓关系,所以是ing形式。
