Packaging may be done in either a batch or assembly line "flow" mode. A batch mode is suitable for quantities 100, the flow mode for quantities > 100.
In a batch packaging job, boxes are assembled, all kit components are placed into the boxes, the insert(s) are added, and the labeling that does not seal the boxes are added. A 100% inspection is performed per production record, then Production closes the boxes and applies any remaining labels and/or seals.
In a flow packaging job, work stations are setup like an assembly line. Boxes are assembled at first station(s), vialed components are added, labeling at the next station(s), and boxes are then closed and sealed at the last station.
If a second packaging is being done, it will be treated as a separate packaging job, using a separate production record from the first batch. The batch number for the second packaging will follow the normal batch number procedure for packages, with a "2" added as a suffix.
After reconciling quantities of components, handle excess kit components as follows: If <20 excess kit, scrap components to the production order. If >20 excess kit components, return to production stocking location (usually MSCR).
