confront 的英语解释:if a problem, difficulty etc confronts you, it appears and needs to be dealt with
习惯搭配是:
be confronted with sth
confront sb with/about sth
。。。
encounter 的解释:to experience something, especially problems or opposition
习惯搭配:
encounter problems/difficulties
。。。
和encounter意思很接近,选词就看上下文和习惯搭配了。
比如 encounter with 和confront with意思就不同了。
encounter with 意思是你第一次遇到某人某事在事先不知情的情况下。

虽然都有面对,遭遇的意思,但是
encounter 有意外的碰到,偶然碰到的意思
而confront则没有这个隐含的意思本回答被提问者采纳

前者有主观正视地面对,后者重在偶然遇到或碰到
