国的规模或法国计系统常用的导管的大小来衡量。 It is most often abbreviated as Fr, but can often abbreviated as Fg, FR or F. It may also be abbreviated as CH or Ch (for Charrière , its inventor) in French speaking countries.它是最经常简称为Fr，但通常可以简称为纤维蛋白原，FR或F，它也可以是在讲法语的国家简称为CH或Ch（ Charrière ，它的发明者）。

管径尺寸是“公称通径”
公称通径是管路系统中所有管路附件用数字表示的尺寸，公称通径是供参考用的一个方便的圆整数，与加工尺寸仅呈不严格的关系。公称通径用字母"DN"后面紧跟一个数字标志。
公称通径 (nominal diameter)，又称平均外径(mean outside diameter)。
这是缘自金属管的管璧很薄，管外径与管内径相差无几，所以取管的外径与管的内径之平均值当作管径称呼。
通径在工程中常指某一管径范围的管子通称，比如:通径为15的管子对应于外径为22或者20的各类别管子(壁厚为0.4，0.5，0.6，0.8，1.0，1.2，1.4，1.5，1.6，1.8，2.0，2.0，2.5，2.8等)这里通径常指某一范围的管子，而不是外径与内径的平均值。
