一、意思不一样

1、independent from 指独立的，自主的（国家或是机构）。

We're going independent from the university and setting up our own group

我们马上就将从大学分离出去，成立我们自己的团体。

2、independent of 指不受影响的，无关联的，自主的，有主见的。

Your questions should be independent of each other 

你的问题应该彼此无关。

二、后面跟的东西不一样

1、independent  from后只能加sth（东西）。

The number of rows produced in this table is independent from the output type. 

该表中所生成的行的数量与输出类型无关。

2、independent of后可以是sb/sth（东西或人）。

A wife can have property independent of her husband. 

妻子可以有与其丈夫无关的财产。

三、强调主体不一样

1、be independent of 强调状态，处在独立的状态中。

This company is independent of the government.

2、gain independent from 强调行为动作，从......获得独立。
