IwasshownapicturebyCezanneofablankwallofahouse,whichhehadmadeinstinctwiththemostdelicatelightsandcolours.NowIoftenamusemyselfwhenIamlookingatawalloraflatsurfaceofanykindbytryingtodistinguishallthedifferenttintswhichcanbediscerneduponit,andconsideringwhetherthesearisefromreflectionsorfromnaturalhue.Youwouldbeastonishedthefirsttimeyoutriedthistoseehowmanyandwhatbeautifulcoloursthereareeveninthemostmonplaceobjects.
