到底he is english 对不对

今天老师叫我翻译 他是英国人 我就说 he is English 他就跟说我这是错的 要 he is an Englishman 我明明记得可以he is english 求专家 大手

English
n.英语;
adj.英格兰的; 英国的; 英语的; 英格兰人的;

Englishman
n.英格兰(男)人,英国(男)人; 英吉利人;

我认为,如果表达He is English.,是指“他是英国国籍”。那用这句话表达“他是英国人”并没有错。但He is an Englishman.,则准确无误地表达了“他是英国人”。

但其实我们所说的英国,最好还是用British.

原文:
I'd say "He is English" is more correct. This is using the word English as an adjective.

"He is an English" is using the word English as a noun. Not incorrect in and of itself, but the noun "English" either refers to the English language or the people of England. As such the word is plural but "He is an English" is implying the word to be singular.

"He is an Englishman" or "He is an English man" are both correct forms of the second phrase.

"He English" is also incorrect as that sentence lacks a verb.

大概就是说 he is english 更对一些 是因为 这句把english当成adj 而 he is an englishman也没有什么错的

这上面回答应该是native speaker
反正我觉得你这句 he is english最大的问题不是语法 而是把英国人概括成 “english” 难怪最近苏格兰闹独立闹的那么凶 ╮(╯▽╰)╭

我觉得无论是englishman或english都应该可以的,不过应该在前面加一个冠词an。追问

he is english加了an就错啦!!!!
