用which而不用that的情况：
1.引导非限制性定语从句时，eg:
She is an artist，which I am not. 她是一位艺术家，而我不是。
2.当关系词前有介词时，
Bejing is the place in which i was born.
北京是我出生的地方。
该句中的in which=where
3.在一个句子中有两个定语从句，其中一个定语从句的关系代词用了that, 另一个应用which。
Let me show you the novel that I borrowed from the library which was newly open to us. 我来给你看我从新开的图书馆里借来的那本小说。
that引导的从句修饰先行词the novel，which引导的定语从句修饰先行词the library.
4.当关系代词后面有插入语时
