On a sunny day, in the heart of America, the loveliest of suburbs, housewife Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) killed herself. Now she takes us into the lives of her friends, family and neighbors... Her circle of girlfriends on Wisteria Lane includes Bree Hodge (Marcia Cross), Martha Stewart on steroids, who recently battled the demons of widowhood, alcoholism and vengeful children...remarried and now tries to keep her image of perfection even as everything crumbles around her; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), who struggles with balancing the complications of work, family issues and recently cancer; Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), until recently a divorcée and single mom, who finally got her happy ending when she tied the knot with the hot plumber next door but is now faced with the challenges of a blended family; the sexy Gabrielle Marquez, the ex-model who seems to be unlucky in love; and serial divorcée Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), the free spirited real estate maven whose love life has everyone buzzing.
Then there are the men: Mike Delfino (James Denton), a plumber who is the on-again/off- again love of Susan's life, now battling drug addiction; Lynette's adorable husband, Tom (Doug Savant), who, it's turning out, has his own share of secrets, Gabrielle's ex-husband, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), Mary Alice's widowed husband, Paul (Mark Moses), who is in prison for the murder of his neighbor, Bree's husband, Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan), a decent man, who happened to run Mike over and put him in a coma.
Joining the neighborhood is Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany), who years ago lived on Wisteria Lane. She moves into Mike's old house with her new young gynecologist husband and daughter in her late teens...who strangely enough, doesn't remember ever living on Wisteria Lane. And finally there is the new gay couple, Bob and Lee, who moved from the city for a more quieter, peaceful life.
From her unique vantage point, Mary Alice sees more now than she ever did alive, and she's planning to share all the delicious secrets that hide behind every neighbor's closed door in this seemingly perfect American suburb.
