There is no denying the fact that English is a useful language. As an international language it plays an important role in the world affairs. Now more and more people are learning it.
English serves as a functional language in several areas of public activity in the world. Because of its wide-spread use geographically, and because of the large number of people who speak it, English has been adopted as the language of aviation and air traffic. English has continued as one of the important languages of commerce, as the sphere of political and economic influence of the English-speaking nations has extended beyond the boundaries of England. The use of English in international diplomacy is strengthened by its acceptance as one of the official languages of the United Nations. And as a final example, English is the language of the majority of published materials in the world so that education, especially specialized higher education, has come to rely on an understanding of English very heavily.
With its world-wide uses, English will become more and more spread. A good mastery of English is very helpful to ourselves. It can extend one’s vision and expand their mind. Looking at the world or oneself through a different language system shows the limits of one’s own perception andadds new dimensions to familiar objects or events. A knowledge of the language will strengthen our ability to know the world and provide the means of communication with the people all over the world.
