Huangyao old town is located in the north east of Guangxi province, about 40 km from Hezhou city, and about 130 km from Yangshuo. There are few old towns like this in China now. It is over 1000 year old, with a history going back to the Song dynasty, developed during the Ming Dynasty, and reached its peak during the Qing dynasty. Because most of the town’s family names are Huang and Yao, we call this town “Huangyao”
